Pure black acrylic horn tapers spiral ear stretchers gauges earring

In the last decade, ear piercing has become more and more popular. Some would say it's an art, much like tattooing, and your body is the canvas. But for many it's therapeutic as well as a fashion statement. In certain cases, people can have twenty to thirty, or more piercings. America, a hundred years ago, this wouldn't be acceptable, but today it's considered a way of expressing your uniqueness and individuality. If there's a body part you want pierced, you can find someplace to do it, regardless of how crazy it is. In fact the more unusual the location of the piercing the more you gets noticed.

One of the most popular body parts for piercing would be the ear. Whether your 2 years old or 50 years old, pierced ears is one of the more acceptable location for a piercing. But many in the younger generations, have taken ear piercing to a new level by “gauging”. And for those who don't know this is basically making the hole bigger, so you can wear thicker earrings. All piercing rings have a gauge, obviously. Gauge earring is merely a size, and the standard for ear piercings is 16-18 gauges. And from there, the lower the number is, the bigger the size is.

A gauge of Spiral Ear Stretchers is the biggest you will be able to pierce your ear, and not everywhere will do it. The best way of going to a larger size is consulting a professional about tapering. This is a gradual and less harmful way of stretching your ears. By then you will be able to gauge your ears anywhere from 10 – 0000. But usually in the mall the largest you will be able to find is 00 which translates to approximately 3/8 of an inch. So if you plan on going to the bigger sizes, be prepared to have to visit a piercing shop, and possibly look around online for the right size.

But don't get me wrong, ears aren't the only place you can gauge; in fact many gauge their eyebrow, labrets, or whatever else! Although, if you plan on gauging the more unusual body piercings it's recommended not to go any bigger than 10, for cosmetic reasons. But then again, many thought ear gauging was weird but now it’s widely accepted. (Usually amongst those who are considered “gothic” or “punk”.) Remember, if this is something you’re considering be sure to take the proper precautions as well as consulting a professional who is experienced in gauging.
